Gender bias on social media. 2020

The present reports – “Election media monitoring: Sexism and gender stereotypes on social media” and “Georgian indicators of sexist hate speech,” present an attempt by Georgian civil society to spur public action on gender-based verbal abuse on social media through the use of innovative monitoring tools.
The civil society research was conducted by the Media Development Foundation (MDF) and the Union Sapari in 2020, throughout an electoral cycle for parliamentary polls.
The research was supported by UNDP and the Government of Sweden under the broader UN Joint Programme for Gender Equality in Georgia.
