Event Details
The 15th meeting of the Inter-agency and Expert Group on Sustainable Development Goal Indicators (IAEG-SDGs) is held from 21 to 23 October 2024.
For the first time, the IAEG-SDGs meeting is held in Oslo, Norway and co-hosted by the UNDP Global Policy Centre for Governance (GPCG) and Statistics Norway. The meeting convenes around 120 experts, including 24 member states as members of the IAEG-SDGs and 28 member states as observers, as well as international and regional agencies and entities and other stakeholders.
The IAEG-SDG’s meeting is pivotal as it oversees the second and final Comprehensive Review of the global indicator framework ahead of the 56th session of the United Nations Statistical Commission in March 2025. It constitutes the final full review and establishes the criteria for which the success or failure of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development will be measured.
The speakers highlighted the critical role of national statistical offices and the importance of concluding the comprehensive review of the SDG indicators by the IAEG-SDG group. Individual speakers also called for the tracking of SDGs with “integrity, accuracy, and inclusivity” and to ensure that people were at the centre of statistical processes.
