Madrid, Spain
GPCG, in close collaboration with UNDP’s Global Democratic and Processes Team, convened electoral stakeholders, global experts, and representatives from major tech platforms, including Meta, X, TikTok, and LinkedIn, for an expert strategic dialogue on information integrity in elections. The event was partly held under the Chatham House rule to allow for candid exchanges between electoral bodies and tech platforms. For many participants, this was the first ever opportunity to engage directly with each other to discuss challenges and solutions around real-time engagement, transparency and structured collaboration mechanisms.
The event was part of the ongoing work of the Action Coalition on Information Integrity in Elections, launched by the GPCG in 2022, which convenes experts to build a collective understanding of challenges, develop solutions, and strengthen collaboration to protect election information ecosystems. The Madrid dialogue reinforced the need for sustained multi-stakeholder engagement and more structured cooperation between coalitions and tech platforms to counter election-related information threats effectively.
