UNDP Corporate Side Event at the High Level Political Forum 2018
Nature for Life: Accelerating SDGs Progress by Investing in People and Planet

New York, July 12: UNDP is organizing a corporate side event on the theme of ‘Nature for Life: Accelerating SDG Progress by Investing in People and Planet,’ alongside the High-level Political Forum (HLPF) 2018. The high-level event will focus on why development needs to do more in managing and investing in natural resources. The event will:
• Demonstrate how investing in natural resource management accelerates SDG progress on livelihoods, jobs, women and youth empowerment, growth, climate change, migration, peace and stability;
• Highlight the links between natural resource governance, sustainable and resilient societies, and efforts to achieve the SDGs, including the goals under review at this year’s HLPF - Goals 6, 7, 11, 12, 15 and 17 – in addition to SDG 13 and 14;
• Showcase initiatives led by the UN, governments, private sector, and communities that bridge the development-humanitarian nexus, and can be replicated, adapted, and scaled across countries; and
• Facilitate South-South-North learning and knowledge exchange.
