Brazil is recovering from the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic that impacted the country, lowered growth, and increased unemployment, inflation, poverty and inequality. In all cases, those most affected are the most vulnerable: Afro-Brazilians, residents in the North and Northeast, indigenous people, and children living in poverty.

Despite gains from earlier decades, inequalities and discrimination based on gender, race, ethnicity, geography, and age continue to be development challenges in Brazil. A fundamental shift in financing and action is needed to accelerate the current pace of development and achieve the 2030 Agenda.
