The main aim of the present document is twofold; first, to set out the technical aspects of the rationale for the Methodology; and second, to describe how it should be developed as a tool for stakeholders, including health authorities and
procurement agencies (which may not necessarily have extensive legal and patent expertise) in developing countries to quickly search for patents on medicines, from publicly available (and free) sources of information.
