Biomass Phase 2

Biomass meets around 40% of Sri Lanka’s primary energy needs – from household, industries and to a lesser extent, power plants – and is an important source of energy.

The project 'Biomass Energy 2022' promotes sustainable biomass energy production and modern bio-energy technologies for industries and institutions. In addition, it strengthens rural economies, increases forest cover, improves living standards of rural women and improves sustainable industries and small and medium enterprises in Sri Lanka by increasing the growth of suppliers for clean and modern biomass technology. The project will  further increase the use of biomass energy for power generation which will benefit local households, farmers and the country's economy.
