The 23rd Session of the Tajikistan Investment Council took place on 28 November 2023 in Dushanbe and focused on enhancing the country’s investment climate.
The discussions centered on business development and attracting international investments by improving the business environment. At the council, UNDP’s Montiel addressed the critical nexus between investment, young women and men, the rule of law and development based on international experiences. He also highlighted the relevance of legal certainty, contract enforcement, property rights, transparency, and accountability – along with the fight against corruption – as key elements for attracting foreign investment to any country.
This year's Investment Council was attended by members of Tajikistan's cabinet for the economic, financial, and business sectors, as well as the EU ambassador, the UN resident coordinator, the heads of UNDP and FAO, and the heads of the World Bank, USAID, JICA, ADB, EBRD, and AKFN.
