Niamh Collier-Smith, UNDP Resident Representative to Thailand, joined the Social Innovation Foundation at a board showcasing the resumes of people with disabilities.

A Day of Empowerment and Inspiration

The job fair featured a range of employment positions from organizations that are committed to inclusive hiring practices. Attendees were also able to access a Consulting Clinic that provided guidance on job applications, empowering participants to confidently share their passions and perform well in interviews. The interviews were conducted in both Thai and English, ensuring that participants could express themselves without any barriers.

Promoting Best Practices in Inclusive Hiring

The event also provided valuable training sessions led by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities. These sessions focused on educating employers and companies about the legal aspects of hiring people with disabilities, specifically in accordance with Sections 33 and 35 of the Persons with Disabilities Empowerment Act. Over 50 companies participated, sharing best practices on adapting job roles and work environments to ensure they are accessible to everyone, including persons with disabilities.

A Continued Commitment to an Inclusive Future

The Inclusion Job Fair 2024 builds on the success of the "We Are Able" project, a collaboration between UNDP, the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, and the Social Innovation Foundation. Over the past two years, this project has played a pivotal role in expanding employment opportunities for people with disabilities, with more than 100 job placements achieved.

The Inclusion Job Fair 2024 not only created valuable connections between job seekers and employers but also helped pave the way for a more inclusive and accessible workforce, reinforcing the belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to thrive.
