Thailand's First Biennial Transparency Report (BTR1)

Thailand, as a Non-Annex I Party to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), is obligated to submit Biennial Update Reports (BURs) every 2 years. The BURs shall be
prepared in accordance with the guidelines contained in decision 2/CP.17. Thailand submitted its first, second, third, and fourth BURs on 29 December 2015, 29 December 2017, 25 December 2020, and 29 December 2022 respectively. In addition, Thailand ratified the Paris Agreement on April 22, 2016.
 

According to the Paris Agreement, all Parties to the Convention and the Paris Agreement are required to submit national inventories of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and removals, in accordance with the Modalities, Procedures and Guidelines (MPGs), for the Transparency Framework for Action and Support Referred to in Article 13 of the Paris Agreement (Decision 18/CMA.1 Annex). This report, the first BTR, contains updates of national Greenhouse Gas inventories, including a national inventory report and information on tracking progress of the implementation and achievement of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), needs and support received, prepared in accordance with the MPGs. In addition, information on climate change impacts and adaptation is provided in this BTR. Thailand has demonstrated the country’s intention to actively implement climate actions and share the results with UNFCCC and the global community.
