Thailand's 1st National Action Plan on Business and Human Rights
January 22, 2020
Thailand's first National Action Plan on Business and Human Rights was adopted by the Cabinet on 29 October 2019. Thailand is the first country in Asia to have a stand-alone plan on Business and Human Rights. Four Key Priority Areas were identified based on the regional consultations and discussions with various sectors during the drafting process of the NAP 2016-2019. These four priority areas are 1) Labor; 2) Community, Land, Natural Resource and Environment; 3) Human Rights Defenders; 4) Cross Border Investment and Multinational Enterprises. The NAP provides the analysis on the overview of the business and human rights situations, challenges and action plans in which activities, responsible agencies, timelines, indicators, and linkages with the National Strategy and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are explicitly elaborated.
