The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has been implanting the Government of Korea funded project on Developing an Inclusive Model for Providing Social and Assistive Services Capacity to Persons with Disabilities with an aim to identify and deliver social services that are both accessible and responsive to gender-specific needs for persons with disabilities living in the affected areas.
The Needs Analysis Report for Individuals with Disabilities Living in Earthquake-Hit Regions, prepared as part of this project, provides a comprehensive analysis of the needs of amputees in these regions. It evaluates the physical, psychological, social, and economic challenges they face and offers recommendations for improving social and support services.
The report is based on qualitative and quantitative data collected through interviews, focus groups, and consultations with various stakeholders, including amputee individuals, prosthetics and orthotics providers, and government officials. The findings highlight significant barriers to accessing health, rehabilitation, and social services, as well as the impact of the earthquakes on the employment and income levels of amputees. By addressing these issues, the report aims to enhance the resilience of amputees and promote an inclusive recovery in the aftermath of the earthquakes.
