UNDP experts briefed Turkmen students on social and environmental aspects of ongoing projects

Ashgabat, October 3, 2022 – Coming up with effective solutions to the potential social and environmental risks arising during implementation stage of development projects require active participation of all relevant stakeholders. In this instance, the role of the young people cannot be underestimated as they might play a special role in developing and forging those processes.
UNDP organized a thematic lecture “Integrating environmental and social aspects into a development project: a health portfolio project primer” at the premises of the Turkmen State Medical University named after Myrat Garryyev. The purpose of the event was to highlight the importance of integrating the social and environmental agenda into various projects and programs.
The event was held in the format of an open dialogue and lively discussion. Shohrat Niyazmuradov, Environment and Social Analyst of the UNDP/World Bank project “Response to COVID-19 in Turkmenistan”, briefed students on development projects, their potential social and environmental risks and methods of managing them. Also, a whole chapter of the lecture was devoted to a practical example - “Response to COVID-19 in Turkmenistan” project that is currently under implementation.
The event dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan accession to the UN was organized by the Office of the UN Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan.
