Kyiv, 2 January 2025 – The Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine has digitalised a service that enables extracts from the Unified State Register of Veterans to be obtained from Administrative Services Centres (ASCs). Thanks to the innovation, the process is significantly accelerated: instead of waiting up to 30 days, an extract can be obtained in 5 minutes.

Previously, to obtain such an extract, a person had to apply to the Ministry for Veterans Affairs of Ukraine. Now access to the register has been provided to the network of ASCs throughout the country, bringing state services closer to citizens.

According to Nataliia Kalmykova, Minister for Veterans Affairs of Ukraine, this service will ensure convenience and efficiency in the provision of services to veterans.

We’re constantly working to simplify veterans’ access to administrative services,” Kalmykova said. “The goal is not only to simplify bureaucratic procedures, but also to give veterans more time to resolve other important matters. This is made possible by the introduction of new digital tools,” Kalmykova said.

An extract from the veterans’ register is important for confirming one’s status in many life situations, noted Jaco Cilliers, UNDP Resident Representative in Ukraine

UNDP, in partnership with Sweden, is pleased to support the Government’s efforts to simplify the provision of necessary state services for veterans,” he said. “Launching the service in ASCs will not only expand the possibilities for obtaining the necessary document, but will also increase the efficiency of its provision, saving veterans a significant amount of time.”

Information is provided to veterans, and other designated categories of people, such as family members of veterans, including deceased veterans, and to others.

The service was developed by the Ministry for Veterans Affairs of Ukraine with assistance from the DIA Support Project, which is implemented by the United Nations Development Programme in Ukraine with funding from Sweden.
