Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine, 21 December 2023 – The "Workshop of Taste," a novel technological co-working space designed to nurture entrepreneurial talent, has been inaugurated in Ivano-Frankivsk. This cutting-edge facility is one of the initiatives implemented in grant project backed by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), with substantial support from the German government. The space is uniquely tailored to cultivate entrepreneurial capabilities, offering a comprehensive education in dessert making, soft cheese crafting, and the use of sous vide techniques. It boasts an array of specialized equipment such as vacuum packing machines, scales, mixers, meat grinders, and a shock freezer, all funded by the grant.
The establishment of the Workshop of Taste, a brainchild of the Eastern Ukrainian Food Cluster, marks a significant stride in fostering entrepreneurship in the region. This initiative, part of a UNDP and GIZ Ukraine grant project, is funded by the German government, underscoring a strong commitment to supporting entrepreneurs.
Olena Briukhovets, leader of the Eastern Ukrainian Food Cluster, the driving force behind the co-working innovation, said the goal is to foster growth not just within our organization but also among aspiring entrepreneurs by imparting both business acumen and technical know-how. “This production hub is more than just a facility; it's an opportunity for budding entrepreneurs to experiment and hone their craft,” she said.
Martin Jäger, Ambassador of Germany to Ukraine, said that he considers the opening of the 'Workshop of Taste' in Ivano-Frankivsk to be a milestone in fostering entrepreneurial talent in Ukraine. “By providing aspiring entrepreneurs with state-of-the-art facilities and comprehensive training, we are investing in individual talent while contributing to the broader economic resilience of Ukraine."
UNDP Resident Representative Jaco Cilliers said the Workshop of Taste represents innovation and entrepreneurial spirit. “By bridging the gap between traditional craftsmanship and modern technology, we are unlocking a world of possibilities for aspiring entrepreneurs,” he said. “This initiative, generously supported by the German government, is an expression of our shared commitment to foster sustainable development and empower local communities in Ivano-Frankivsk. We believe that through this project, we are sowing the seeds for a more vibrant and resilient local economy."
Cillers said the grant project is multifaceted, focusing on developing business associations, providing theoretical training, and launching an online educational platform. Managed by the NGO "Kryla" under Yana Sinytsia's leadership, the platform is set to go live by the end of December. It will feature concise courses, ranging from 7 to 15 minutes, supplemented with practical materials such as technological cards and diagrams.
