Catalogue of the Sustainable Development Goals financing opportunities for Kherson and Donetsk region

July 22, 2022

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development was approved by the UN in 2015 to set out a vision for world development. To assess the success of countries in implementing this Agenda, seventeen Sustainable Development Goals to be achieved by the year 2030 (SDGs 2030) as well as their targets and indicators were identified. Ukraine has also joined this Agenda.

Catalogue of opportunities for financing the SDGs’ achievement contains three components of each SDG: national, subnational expenditures and SDG-related international technical assistance, distributed concerning the beneficiaries of the programs, objectives and achievement indicators, following the previous methodologies of SDG Budget tagging for Ukraine.

Catalogue has been prepared by UNDP in the framework of implementation of the Joint UN Programme “Promoting strategic planning and financing for sustainable development at the national and regional levels in Ukraine” before the start of the full-scale war in Ukraine. However, the conclusions and recommendations for sustainable development remain relevant during and after the war.

To reinforce Ukraine’s SDG financing architecture, UNDP as the lead agency, together with WHO, UNICEF and the non-resident agency UNECE, is implementing a comprehensive Joint Programme to promote strategic planning and financing for sustainable development in Ukraine.
