Operational guide to the integrated disarmament, demobilization and reintegration standards
Operational guide to the integrated disarmament, demobilization and reintegration standards

Reintegration of veterans is a relatively new and unfortunate need for Ukraine. There is a number of veterans’ associations, NGOs, governmental bodies and international agencies and institutions providing support for veterans throughout Ukraine, but a comprehensive approach to reintegration is yet to be developed. Among the needs to be addressed are livelihood support, psycho-social assistance and breaking down negative stereotypes.
To support this incipient but important work, UNDP in Ukraine has translated the Operational Guide to the Integrated Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration Standards into Ukrainian.
The Operational Guide highlights that in order for a reintegration program or initiative to be successful, it must be closely linked to wider recovery and development processes. This requires context-specific analyses, establishing linkages with long-term recovery activities, participatory and detailed assessments that are regularly being updated, and development of capacities of national and local stakeholders and service providers.
