State of implementation of the Business and Human Rights Chapter of the National Human Rights Strategy of Ukraine

This report assesses Ukraine's integration of the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs) into its national human rights framework. It evaluates the state of implementation of the Business and Human Rights Chapter (§16) of the National Human Rights Strategy of Ukraine and provides recommendations to ensure its effective implementation.
The report also analyzes other strategic documents relevant to the implementation of the UNGPs, including the Concept of Realization of the State Policy on the Development of Socially Responsible Business in Ukraine for the period up to 2030 and the National Economic Strategy of 2021.
Considering the ongoing full-scale war, the study also focuses on the legislative regulations that have been enacted since February 24, 2022, and those during the ongoing war, assessing how they align with the UNGPs. Furthermore, the report provides an analysis of upcoming national recovery, and peacebuilding strategic documents in terms of their cross-sectoral integration of the UNGPs and offers recommendations for policy enhancements in post-war recovery efforts.
This report was produced as part of the project 'Promoting Responsible Business Conduct in target countries where Japanese companies operate,' with a particular emphasis on advancing human rights due diligence in global supply chains and leveraging the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights for a just recovery.
