Uzbekistan delegation visits Hedayah

The delegation of Uzbekistan representing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry for the Support of Mahalla and the Older Generation, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Centre for Studying regional Threats (NGO) and UNDP, paid a learning visit to Hedayah – the international Center of Excellence for Countering Violent Extremism.
The study tour to Hedayah allowed the delegation to get closer familiarization with the science–based and innovative programs of the Centre in such areas as gender mainstreaming in preventing violent extremism, developing effective counter narrative communication strategies, capacity-building on youth radicalization and theological interaction.
Two-day event served a platform to learn foreign best practices in countering and preventing violent extremism and further foster international cooperation of Uzbekistan in the sphere.
The visit was organized in the framework of the global project "Strengthening Resilience against Violent Extremism in Asia" (STRIVE ASIA) - a partnership between the EU and the UN, shaped to promote the prevention of and counteraction to violent extremism in Central, South and Southeast Asia with the participation of various stakeholders, including the government, civil society and the private sector.
Through the project activity, UNDP supports the Government of Uzbekistan in the implementation of the "National Strategy of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Counter Extremism and Terrorism for 2021-2026", especially by buttressing efforts in communities to improve socially inclusive decision-making, to develop and implement projects in the field of prevention of extremism and social reintegration, meaningful citizen participation, raising awareness and public vigilance, and to expand the understanding and knowledge of people in this field.
