Project summary:

The purpose of this finance solution is to design and implement a tourism fee system, starting with the Hon Cau MPA, with the goal of further expansion to other parks. This pilot works with the Binh Thuan DARD, to support their efforts to create a sustainable community-based ecotourism development in Hon Cau MPA, by designing a tourism fee system.

Project objectives:

While the increased tourism poses a potential threat to the environment, if correctly regulated and properly financed, it also offers an opportunity. The goal of implementing a fee system will both generate finance to invest in these parks, as well as control the number of visitors and their activities.  The goals of the project are to increase the control of visitors, as the island reaches its carrying capacity; to generate revenues to better manage the park; and support the establishment of ecofriendly tourism activities.

Expected results:

Design and implement a fee collection system of tourism related activities and management of revenue for Hon Cau Marine Protected Area.
