Our Strategic Plan 2022-2025 introduces the evolution of #NextGenUNDP into #FutureSmartUNDP. More than a mantra, it is our new benchmark for success in the future of development. Building on UNDP’s 50 years of expertise across 170 countries, this new approach allows us to focus and prioritize where country demands are greatest. By working together in this way, we aim to expand people’s choices for a fairer, sustainable future, with people and planet in balance.

 

Our work

Economic Recovery and Development

UNDP Yemen’s Economic Recovery and Development (ERD) programme is future looking. Not only does UNDP respond to urgent needs of the most vulnerable Yemenis, but it also helps to restore income sources, rehabilitates infrastructures and productive assets, and equips communities to overcome future challenges while preparing them for eventual long-term development.

Governance and Rule of Law

The overall objective of UNDP Governance and Rule of Law (GRoL) programming in the transition and the post conflict setting is to promote responsive and accountable institutions, support inclusive political processes, foster resilient state society relations, and restore governance as well as strengthening partnerships.

Peace Support Operations

The Peace Operations Support Unit (POSU) offers critical support in the peace process by accelerating the implementation of agreements reached by the parties to the conflict during negotiations led by the UN Secretary General’s Special Envoy to Yemen. It also ensures that the upstream political dialogue connects to critical recovery interventions at the community level – with a focus on women and youth impacted by the effects of the conflict.

Gender Equality

Gender equality is critical to stabilization, early recovery, and sustainable development and is a critical component integrated into every UNDP Yemen project. Equally, gender is central to UNDP’s work at large – and to the entire UN system – and is reflected within the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the UNDP Strategic Plan 2022-2025, as well as in the UNDP New Corporate Gender Strategy.
