UNDP Pacific Accelerator Lab

We work on climate resilience, food security and anticipatory governance to integrate cross cutting elements like digitalization, social inclusion and innovation.

In our early days, the UNDP Pacific Accelerator Lab worked on a systems approach to climate security leading us to experiment with the use of traditional knowledge in climate resilience.

With the onset of COVID-19, we began our work on anticipatory governance supporting the UN Country Team with sensemaking workshops and foresight methodology. This supplemented the development of a policy brief which can serve governments in 10 Pacific Island Countries for anticipatory decision making. The Lab also engaged in empathetic ethnography with communities in the 10 Pacific Island Countries remotely to understand the impacts of COVID-19 on grassroots communities and make overt their stories. Alongside, in response to the growing inequities exacerbated by COVID-19, we also seeded three experiments in food security to understand accessibility and affordability of nutritious food for families in Fiji and Vanuatu.

Lastly, we are supporting UNDP projects in project design with a portfolio approach, engaging on new frontiers in technology and digitalization, and improving monitoring and learning processes.
