Our Mission

UNDP partners with people at all levels of society to help build nations that can withstand crisis, and drive and sustain the kind of growth that improves the quality of life of everyone. We are on the ground in around 170 countries, to help empower lives and build resilient nations. UNDP’s presence in Barbados is a Multi-Country Office that covers the Eastern Caribbean, including Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, British Virgin Islands, the Commonwealth of Dominica, Grenada, Montserrat, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. These tropical islands, in the Caribbean Sea, are characterized by their geographic and socio-economic similarities; however, they each have their own distinct cultural identity and unique history.

Key Initiatives

Crisis Response and Recovery

Following the volcanic eruption of La Soufrière volcano in St. Vincent on 8 April 2021, UNDP mobilized to quickly offer its expertise to the people and institutions of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines to assist national efforts to accelerate recovery.
