The Crown Prince will be in Colombia from February 12 to 14 to support the work of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and Colombia´s efforts to consolidate peace and achieve sustainable development, as part of the 2030 Agenda.
Bogotá, February 9, 2019.- UNDP Goodwill Ambassador His Royal Highness Crown Prince Haakon of Norway will visit Colombia from February 12 to 14 to learn about the country's progress with regard to sustainable development, as part of the implementation of the 2030 Agenda, of which Colombia is a signatory country and one of its pioneers in its design and implementation.
During his visit, the Crown Prince will see first-hand the fundamental connection of the peace process and the Sustainable Development Goals, which represents a historic opportunity to move decisively towards closing development gaps in the country. Over three days, he will learn about the achievements and opportunities for peacebuilding, the fight against climate change and the prevention of deforestation, from the human sustainable development perspective promoted by UNDP.
The Crown Prince will meet senior government authorities and public institutions, civil society organizations, including women's groups, victims of armed conflict, human rights defenders, vulnerable communities that have been affected by climate change and have successfully implemented adaptation measures, and ex-combatants of the FARC who are carrying out projects for their socioeconomic reincorporation.
Crown Prince Haakon has been a dedicated UNDP Goodwill Ambassador since 2003. His role in Colombia will be to promote the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development as a universal call to action to end poverty in all its forms, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity.
