The Spain-UNDP Trust Fund was established in April, 2007 to support the United Nations Development Programme's (UNDP) democratic governance and poverty reduction initiatives in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Thanks to support from the Trust Fund, in just 33 months UNDP has put into operation 117 national projects and 17 high-impact regional initiatives, operating in 20 countries throughout the region. These projects, which focus on issues such as human rights, constitutional reform, local governance and social inclusion, among others, have successfully reached marginalized populations in some of the region's poorest and most remote areas.
