The "Good Governance" project is a joint initiative between the European Union (EU) Delegation in Namibia and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Namibia country office, born from extensive research and a consultative process. Insights gathered from a detailed desk review, along with engagements from key stakeholders, including government entities, civil society organizations, and private sector partners, have shaped the foundation of this program.
This initiative directly responds to the evaluation findings of Namibia's first National Anti-Corruption Strategy and Action Plan (NACSAP). It aligns with the UNDP's Africa Promise, focusing on sustainable financing and digital transformation as vital enablers of good governance. Furthermore, it supports Namibia’s national priorities, including the Harambee Prosperity Plan II (HPP II) and the Fifth National Development Plan (NDP 5).
With an emphasis on reducing corruption and illicit financial flows, the project aims to improve e-Governance systems to enhance access to public goods, boost efficiency, and foster a more transparent environment. The overall goal is to reduce corruption and bribery across multiple sectors in Namibia through a comprehensive, inclusive approach.
Aligned with the EU's mission in Namibia, the project focuses on governance, human rights, and sustainable development. It supports SDG 16, aiming for peaceful societies, access to justice, and accountable institutions. The project also strengthens multi-stakeholder collaboration, engaging government, civil society, and the private sector to achieve these goals.
