To maximise the benefits of COVID-19 vaccines, urgent efforts are needed to achieve greater vaccine equity. Addressing the known and emerging gender-related inequities is critical. This Guidance Note and Checklist provide a set of practical actions for countries to advance gender equality and equity in the deployment of COVID-19 vaccines.
The target audience for this checklist includes:
• COVID-19 vaccine deployment Coordinating Committees and National Immunization Programme managers
• Country stakeholders responsible for planning, implementing, and monitoring COVID-19 vaccine deployment
• Reviewers of COVID-19 National Deployment and Vaccination Plans
• Development and other partners supporting vaccine deployment
This Guidance was developed by the Equity Cluster, Gender Equality Working Group of the SDG 3 Global Action Plan for Healthy Lives and Well Being, and the Gender and Health Hub of the United Nations University International Institute for Global Health.
