July 8, 2022
The right to equal participation in politics is enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR), declaring the right of every person to equal participation in public affairs, including the right to vote and to be elected, and the right to access public service.
This report includes findings from a rapid assessment conducted by UNDP in March and April 2021 on the “Willingness of Persons with Disabilities to Stand for Election to the National Assembly of Viet Nam or People’s Councils at All Levels”, to understand the wishes and aspirations of PWDs to become representatives in Vietnamese legislatures, as well as their ability and potential to participate in politics in the near future.
The report is accessible and available in both English and Vietnamese.
