Our focus

UNDP’s systemic approach to energy in Asia and the Pacific integrates clean, renewable energy access with critical societal priorities such as public services, rural livelihoods, and poverty eradication. This inclusive and sustainable energy transformation reflects the region’s diversity, requiring tailored solutions to address unique national challenges and opportunities.

From bridging last-mile energy access gaps to pioneering innovations like hydrogen infrastructure and AI integration, UNDP’s work builds on regional energy trends and country-specific priorities. Our efforts focus on fostering a just, fair, and inclusive energy transition, enhancing energy efficiency in heating, cooling, and extractive industries, promoting clean cooking solutions, and supporting sustainable urbanization and circular economies. Mobilizing financial investment remains central to accelerating these transitions.

To achieve these goals, UNDP prioritizes strategic enablers, including innovation across energy value chains, leveraging digital solutions, fostering knowledge transfer and skills development, and building strategic partnerships. Through these actions, UNDP is driving sustainable energy transformations that promote resilience, inclusivity, and prosperity across Asia and the Pacific.
