summary

With funds from the Government of Denmark, UNDP assists Georgia to advance decentralization and good governance at the local level through a nation-wide policy reform which aims to enhance capacities of the local and national duty bearers and empower the right holders with the focus on all social and economic groups – women, men, youth, ethnic minorities and vulnerable population.

what we do

The project is assisting the regional and local self-governance reform in four major areas:

  • Improvement of policy and institutional frameworks to foster decentralization and promote good governance at the local level.
  • Enhancement of institutional and human capacities of the national and local authorities.
  • Improvement of the municipal service delivery.
  • Empowerment of the right holders to engage in local policymaking.

The project is being implemented in close partnership with the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, the Parliament of Georgia, the National Association of Local Authorities (NALA), the Civil Service Bureau of Georgia (CSB), municipal authorities in three target regions (Kvemo Kartli, Mtskheta-Mtianeti and Imereti), civil society organisations and local businesses.
