Programme Summary
UNDP supports the Office of Electoral Assistance (OEA), established by the United Nations Assistance Mission in Iraq (UNAMI) in 2003, to provide technical assistance to the Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC), through capacity building and knowledge sharing. UNDP provides specialized technical support through the placement of technical experts, specifically addressing electoral management systems, databases and planning, and training for the relevant national institutions.

What we have achieved so far

Support for the inclusive development and adoption of a strategic plan for the IHEC involved;

Improved inter-unit communication within the IHEC through regular meetings;

Assessment of and recommendations for the improvement of IHEC results management system and database;

Support to improve IHEC public information site to encourage transparency and accountability.
