Accra, 2 October 2024 - The newly designated Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Ghana, Niloy Banerjee, has presented his letter of credence to the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Mavis Nkansah-Boadu, on the start of his duty tour in Ghana. Mr. Banerjee appointment took effect from 5 September 2024.

Hon. Mavis Nkansah-Boadu warmly received the new UNDP Resident Representative, highlighting UNDP's unwavering support for Ghana's development agenda. She also commended UNDP's impactful Timbuktoo initiative, which is strengthening Ghana-UNDP partnership.

She expressed appreciation to UNDP for its support to the government and people of Ghana towards the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). She said, “many thanks to UNDP for tirelessly supporting the works of the Government of Ghana. We look forward to deepening our collaboration to ensure Ghana meets the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) under your guidance”.

The UNDP Resident Representative thanked the Deputy Minister for welcoming him and to receive his letter of credence. He therefore pledged UNDP's commitment to working within the UN system to support Ghana's development agenda. 

“UNDP is committed to fostering a robust partnership with the government and people of Ghana, to propel Ghana's socio-economic transformation and drive progress toward a more resilient and prosperous future for all”, stated Mr. Banerjee.

The new UNDP Resident Representative will lead UNDP’s operations and programmes in Ghana, in support of Government’s development priorities and the UN systems’ contributions towards the achievement of the SDGs.
