Guidelines for setting up Climate Smart Agriculture Clubs in Primary Schools

October 23, 2024

The Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF) with support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the European Union (EU) and the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA), is implementing a project titled, “Enhancing Resilience of Agricultural Landscapes and Value Chains in Eastern Uganda Scaling Up Climate Smart Agriculture”. The project is expected to enhance climate-resilient agricultural production, and to promote the adoption of Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA) among institutions. It is also aimed at drawing increased investment by the private sector, particularly from input and marketing dealers that will supply climate smart technology inputs and services.

As part of the project, MAAIF has initiated the establishment of CSA Clubs in selected primary schools in Eastern Uganda. The clubs are expected to act as catalysts to promote the use and adoption of CSA practices and technologies in schools. This guide provides procedures and processes to assist teachers and pupils from those schools in setting up CSA Clubs.
