One Year After the Earthquake UNDP Albania Brochure
November 23, 2020
On November 26, 2019, a 6.3 magnitude earthquake, the biggest in decades, took a deadly toll on Albania, impacting people’s lives and the economy. UNDP was on the ground from day two, providing immediate food and non-food items to vulnerable communities including Roma and Egyptians.
Over the last year, UNDP drew upon its experience, technical expertise, presence on the ground, and its local and global networks, to help Albania cope with the disaster. Our medium-to-long-term support focused on three dimensions: helping local businesses and local economies recover; investing in rebuilding community infrastructure, including education facilities; and strengthening the country’s disaster and risk preparedness.
This brochure highlights some of UNDP’s work over the last year.
