October 27, 2022
Jovanka Trenchevska, Minister of Labour and Social Policy, together with Sanja Bojanic, UNDP Deputy Resident Representative, and Bekim Murati, Director of the Employment Agency of the Republic of North Macedonia, attended the promotion of the new measure from the Operational Plan for Active Measures and Programs “Supporting private sector for creating new jobs through green investments”.
This measure is planned to support up to 100 companies with a non-refundable grant for opening a total of 100 job positions, ensuring advisory support through the portal www.bizz4all.mk, as well as provisioning of free green skills trainings for 210 unemployed persons.
Sanja Bojanic, UNDP Deputy Resident Representative, emphasized the following: “In the times of post-pandemic recovery, dealing with war induced energy crisis, overall supply chain, and especially food crisis, the need for a green, resilient recovery and related green finance strategy, green financing instruments became more obvious. The focus is frequently put on costs and, of course, the green transition does require change and investments; there will be initially winners and losers, but in the long run both, companies and people, will enjoy the benefits.” – she stated.
According to the last analyses, it has been calculated that the shift towards circular economy models can create up to 8,000 new green jobs and generate 47 million euros for the economy by 2030 in North Macedonia.
Jovana Trenchevska, Minister of Labour and Social Policy, emphasized that the measure should encourage creation of new jobs and at the same time accelerate the process of green transformation of the private sector through the introduction of green products, services, technologies or processes in the enterprises.
In his address, the Director of EARNM clarified what is foreseen with the new measure from the Operational Plan.
“The measure foresees financial support in the form of a grant for 100 new jobs and it amounts from MKD 205,000 to MKD 615,000, depending on the number of approved jobs at the employers from the private sector, who are interested in creating new jobs and green investments”, said Murati.
The activity is part of 2022 Operational Plan for Active Measures and Programs for Employment, realized in partnership with the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy and the Employment Agency.
