This Policy Brief provides insight into to the importance of
addressing issues of gender equality and unpaid carework
in national development policies and strategies. It targets
UNDP country offices and their national counterparts (e.g.,
national, regional and local governments and parliaments,
academia, media, civil society and the private sector). This
Policy Brief can be used to stimulate discussions at the
country level with a view towards developing locallyadapted
gender equality and unpaid care work initiatives,
and, as an advocacy tool with a view towards increasing
awareness of gender equality and unpaid care work from
the local to the international levels.
