Yemen is facing a severe water crisis. While the current conflict has markedly increased Yemen’s water scarcity, Yemen was one of the world’s most severely water-stressed countries even before the conflicts. To further understand the situation, UNDP, through the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO), commissioned Acacia Water to perform a literature review on Yemen's water resources.

The current study highlights the existing knowledge on water resources, identifies the main knowledge gaps, and proposes recommendations to improve water resources management. Specific attention is given to three wadi catchments (Abyan Delta, Hadhramaut, and Rima/Siham).

The analyses will help better draft concrete, usable and ready-to-implement recommendations.
