Gender Observatory Report on the 2023 Elections
November 13, 2024
The 2023 Gender Observatory Report examines the 2023 Zimbabwean elections through a gender lens. The report details key findings from the pre-election, election, and post-election phases, highlighting challenges such as gender-based violence, access for persons with disabilities, and high nomination fees. The report concludes with specific recommendations for improving gender equality in future elections, addressing concerns raised by the Zimbabwe Gender Commission (ZGC) and other stakeholders.
The report was produced by the Zimbabwe Gender Commission (ZGC) with technical support from UN Women and funding from Japan, as well as the European Union, France, and UNDP core contributors under the second phase of the UNDP Zimbabwe Electoral Commission Capacity Building Project.
