Since January 2011, UNDP Cambodia has been implementing the Community Development and Knowledge Management for the Satoyama Initiative (COMDEKS) phase I as a flagship programme of the Satoyama Initiative, a global effort to promote sustainable use of natural resources in landscapes and seascapes with local communities. We have provided funding support to 5 projects located inside the Stung Siem Reap Watershed landscape of Seim Reap province under the Global Environment Facility (GEF) Small Grants Programme, in partnership with the Ministry of the Environment of Japan, the CBD Secretariat, and the United Nations University Institute for the Advanced Study of Sustainability (UNU-IAS). The version for Stung Siem Reap Watershed Programme strategy COMDEKs phase IV is to “maintain and restore functional socio-ecological production landscapes to preserve biodiversity, improve local livelihood, and enhance ecological and institutional landscape connectivity.”
UNDP Cambodia would like to invite local NGOs and CBOs working on sustainable landscape management, Climate Change Adaptation and poverty reduction in all villages, communes, districts located inside Stung Siem Reap Watershed landscape in Siem Reap province, Cambodia to submit their project concept paper for the grants.
Grants of up to US$ 50,000 per project are available and distributed on a competitive basis.
SGP will fund up to 50% of the total project cost while the other 50% is to be funded by the selected organization or community through local authority contribution and/or other donor support.
