Funding Facility for Stabilization Quarter I Report 2017

By the First Quarter 2017, the Funding Facility for Stabilization (FFS) expanded its work to cover a total of 22 areas and increase the number of projects to over 500. This Report outlines the progress made from 1 January to 31 March 2017 by FFS in the governorates of Ninewah, Salah al-Din, Anbar, Diyala and Kirkuk.
Significant progress was made in upscaling activities in Ninewah following the liberation of east Mosul. Over 90 projects have got underway in the city, whilst good progress was made to support returnees and vulnerable communities in the remote Ninewah Plains and western Anbar.
The work of FFS has improved the conditions for the return of over 1.6 million Iraqis to their homes, rehabilitating vital infrastructure in areas of water, health, education and municipalities amongst others and providing essential immediate livelihood opportunities. At present, over 3 million Iraqis are internally displaced and the continuance of FFS activities remains an essential component to stabilization in Iraq.
Highlights
- More than 90 projects are underway in Mosul, bringing the total number of FFS projects to over 500
- FFS is now active in 22 locations following approval by the Steering Committee of several new locations for intervention once liberated, including Hawija, Tal Afar and Shura
- New pilot projects to rehabilitate housing and provide cash grants to women headed households are being implemented in Ramadi and Fallujah
