Maquival Primary and Secondary School are set to undergo significant improvements, thanks to substantial investments aimed at enhancing educational infrastructure in the region. The project, supported by the Mozambique Recovery Facility (MRF) Basket Fund from UNDP, will address the needs of local students by improving facilities and creating a more conducive learning environment.

This project is made possible through the generous contributions of the European Union (EU), Canada, Finland, the Netherlands, India, China, and Norway. The funds are allocated as follows:
- Rehabilitation of Maquival Primary School, Quelimane District: The rehabilitation, scheduled for completion in March 2025, includes the construction of a school building with 10 classrooms, 2 toilet blocks, administrative offices, and ramps for people with disabilities. The school, which serves 1,458 students, will also benefit from a water supply system, an electricity system, and new furniture. The total cost of the works is 19,115,261.64 MZM.
- Rehabilitation of 7th of April Maquival Secondary School, Quelimane District: The secondary school, which serves 2,840 students, is undergoing resilient rehabilitation that started in May 2024 and is expected to be completed by December 2024. The rehabilitation includes two classroom blocks with 9 classrooms, 2 toilet blocks, administrative offices, ramps for people with disabilities, a canteen, a library, and a multipurpose field. The school will also receive new furniture. The total cost of the works is 17,812,871.05 MZM.

The last visits to the school sites were conducted on [insert last visit date], with representatives from the various donor organizations and UNDP officials touring the facilities and ensuring the project's progress aligns with expectations.
