This issue explores the impact of AI on development, its potential for Pakistan’s transformation, and the subsequent new challenges and opportunities Pakistan must prepare for. AI is fast evolving and we are proud that we have captured our snapshot. This is the first issue on AI for development in Pakistan that covers major issues and voices from key actors and institutions. We have prominent actors contributing to this issue including H.E. Shaza Fatima Khawaja the Federal Minister of IT, PITB, Tariq Malik the former head of NADRA, and Google, among others. We have covered key issues including Big Tech, automation of jobs, women’s inequality and education. We also showcase emerging trends and Pakistani initiatives using AI through our case studies. The issue also puts forward comprehensive policy recommendations moving forward.
