The Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) is the principal global intergovernmental body exclusively dedicated to the promotion of gender equality and the empowerment of women. A functional commission of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), was established in June of 1946 and is mandated to expand and link the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action.
The priority theme of CSW68 focuses on accelerating the achievement of gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls by addressing poverty and strengthening gender-responsive institutions and financing. The review theme focuses on social protection systems, access to public services and sustainable infrastructure for gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls (agreed conclusions of the 63rd CSW).
