Telemedicine for physical
and mental health in vulnerable areas

PROJECT OWNER: UNDP Dominican Republic
Within the framework of Innovation Challenge Digital X Scale , from the Acceleration Laboratory we support the an online platform that provides quality telemedicine services for physical and mental health to vulnerable areas, an initial project of the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM) and Intellisys Corp.
This platform is one of the solutions identified within UNDP's effort towards the recovery of MSMEs, through Acceleration 2030, an initiative that consists of mapping solutions to accelerate economic recovery and resilience throughout the Latin American region. Through it, qualitative data was collected during the research/fieldwork phase in the town of Manabao , Jarabacoa, allowing the eHospital initiative to focus on more than 50 beneficiaries of obtaining free health care during the COVID-19 pandemic, also saving logistical and medical expenses when provided by the digital platform.
The pilot project was carried out, which showed that telemedicine is a contribution to the health of vulnerable people in remote areas. This platform has the possibility of scaling up teleconsultation regulations and being piloted at a national level to support the flow of health centers and provide a better service to all people.
