UNDP’s Environment and Energy team for Latin America and the Caribbean works with countries in the LAC region in the achievement of their sustainable development goals through an environmental portfolio that is linked to the delivery of national and global environmental benefits while acting as a driver for sustainable growth, social cohesion, and resilient livelihoods.   

Our key areas of focus include the conservation and restoration of critical ecosystems, promoting sustainable production practices, enhancing climate adaptation and resilience, advancing clean energy and transport, mobilizing finance for climate and nature, improving oceans and water governance, and supporting the sound management of chemicals and waste. Our work in the region prioritizes inclusive economic governance and policy alignment while looking to mobilize public and private finance for impact at a scale.
