Nationally Determined Contributions
Nationally Determined Contributions
December 11, 2020
5 years ago, as part of the Paris Agreement - countries including Sri Lanka pledged to reduce national emissions and adapt to climate change impacts by contributing to efforts in keeping global temperature rise to 1.5°C.
Each country had self-defined targets also known as 'Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs)' to achieve these goals for both people and planet.
NDCs can be a building block for a green recovery to the COVID-19 crisis and they offer an important blueprint for climate action that can spur economic growth, technology transformation, job creation and address key social inequalities.
UNDP is supporting the Government of Sri Lanka to formulate more ambitious NDCs to set the world on a path towards sustainable development.
