UNDP Bangladesh implemented this project supported by the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM), the People’s Republic of China through the UNDP China South-South Triangular Cooperation. The project aimed to protect frontline workers, strengthen local PPE production, and create livelihood opportunities for vulnerable groups, building resilience for future crises. The recently completed project (February 2022 to March 2024) supported various disadvantaged groups included female-headed households, jobless garment workers, landless individuals, divorcees, persons with disability, in addressing major socio-economic challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. A total of 1,425 beneficiaries (1400 women) in 32 districts including Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) and Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) are well-equipped with appropriate training and automated sewing machines.
